“Take my hands..”
His hands felt so rough like a man who had worked all his life to provide for his loved ones yet, so soft and gentle.
“Take my whole life too…”
Oh, the rhythm of his heart beating, it’s like him literally telling me to take his life.
“For I can’t help falling in love with you.”
He whispered into my ear, “I love you”, his soft breath grazing my shoulders.
I rested my head against his shoulders, smiling stupidly as we swayed back and forth to the music.
Oh, what manner of man is this?! His silky shirt, his cologne, his ripped and muscled chest…..
Then, he seemed to fade away. Slipping beyound my reach. Is it my eyes?
Ring ring…ring ring…ring ring
What’s that? Where’s that coming from? We had both decided to leave our phones at home so as to give each other the undivided attention we needed. So where’s that sound coming from?
Boom….bang…bang….boom
I then realized my head had left the ripped and muscled chest for a flat but soft surface. The lavender fragrance disappeared to be replaced with an earthy smell.
Booooom…baaannng…booooomm
That sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Thunder and lightning? Wait, is that rain pelting against my windows?
I slowly opened my eyes and my ceiling fan, rolling like it wants to fall, met me.
What?! What??! Where’s the fancy room I was once in? Where’s the music playing?? Most importantly, where’s the fine man I was dancing with?! No no no…please. Don’t tell me it was all a dream. No, I can’t lose that guy..
Ring ring ring..
My phone rang. The same phone that woke me up from my beautiful dre…no please, don’t be negative, it’s not a dream.
I checked the caller ID and it was my Dad. Nice one, Dad.
“Hello, Daddy..”
“Hello, my dear girl. How are you?”
“I’m fine sir. How are you too?
“I’m fine too. Did I wake you up from sleep?”
Ohh, so you know.
“It’s no problem sir. I was just resting.”
“Okay. It is well with you.”
“Amen sir.”
“I’ve been transferred to Kaduna o.”
Transferred?
“Wow! Transferred to Kaduna??!! That’s the north. Wow…. How are we going to do it? What’s Mummy saying?”
“We just have to go dear. When the Lord says go, we follow. We have no choice. We’ve prayed about it and we’re convinced.”
Prayed about it? Wahala oo..
“Yes sir. When are you supposed to resume?”
“Next month by God’s grace. And I’m glad next month is your induction. We’d all go together to Kaduna a few days after your induction. So start preparing. “
“Dadd..”
“Ehn ehn, I spoke with the guy that would do your jotters….”
Did he just say we’d go to Kaduna together? What’s my own with the transfer?? I have my own plans here na. Why would I go to a Boko Haram state? Did he say he and Mum are convinced? Which kyn conviction be that please? Make nobody stress me oo..
“Jadesola, are you still there?”
Startled… “Yes sir. Yes sir. I like the plan for the jotters. Let’s do it that way.”
“Alright then. I’d talk to you later, my dear.”
“Okay sir. Thank you sir.”
“God bless you.”
“Amen sir.” Click
Aaaarrrrgggghhhh… This is what I don’t like about this company my dad works in. What kind of long distance transfer is that? From Ogun State to Kaduna. Kaduna! Chai.

You are Good girl…
